Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 14, 2026
Last updated: September 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Lamorinda Healing Arts, Inc., a Texas corporation doing business as Selling a Practice (“Selling a Practice”, “we”, “us” or “our”), collects, uses, discloses and retains personal information through sellingapractice.com (the “Site”) and in providing our services.

Your use of the Site is also governed by our Terms of Service.

1. Quick summary

  • We collect what you give us through our forms, calculators and email, and standard technical information about your visit.
  • We use it to respond to you, to provide and improve our services, to send you information you asked for, and to market our services.
  • We do not sell your personal information for money. We do run advertising and analytics tags from Google and Meta, and under several US state privacy laws that counts as “sharing” or a “sale” for targeted advertising. You can opt out — see Section 9.
  • We do not want and will not accept patient records or protected health information. See Section 11.
  • You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, at [email protected]. See Section 9.

2. Who we are and who is responsible

The business responsible for the personal information described here — the controller, or the “business” under US state privacy laws — is:

Lamorinda Healing Arts, Inc.
a Texas corporation, doing business as Selling a Practice
8614 Leisure Lane, Granbury, Texas 76049
Privacy requests: [email protected]
Other enquiries: sellingapractice.com/contact-us

We provide advisory and marketing services to owners of healthcare and clinical practices who are selling, and to buyers, throughout the United States and Canada.

3. The personal information we collect

a. Information you give us

  • Identifiers and contact details — name, email address, telephone number, practice name, professional title or specialty, city and state or province.
  • Practice and financial information — revenue, collections, profit, expenses, patient or client volume, payer mix, staffing, lease and premises details, equipment, asking price and similar figures you enter into the valuation calculator, the practice sale readiness assessment, or provide to us during an engagement.
  • Transaction and engagement information — the services you engage, correspondence with us, documents you send us, and notes of our discussions.
  • Testimonial submissions — your name, email address, professional title, practice name, the statement you write, and any photograph you upload. See Section 12.
  • Buyer enquiries — contact details, professional background, licensure, location preferences, budget and financing information you provide when enquiring about a listing.
  • Payment information — where you pay us, payment is processed by a third-party payment processor. We receive confirmation of payment and limited details such as the last four digits of a card; we do not collect or store full card numbers or bank account numbers on our systems.
  • Communications — the content of emails, form messages, chat and voicemail you send us, and our replies.

b. Information collected automatically

  • Technical and usage data — IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, screen size, language, referring and exit pages, the pages you view, time spent, links and buttons clicked, and the date and time of your visit. This is collected through server logs, cookies and similar technologies.
  • Advertising and analytics identifiers — cookie IDs and similar identifiers set by the third-party services listed in Section 7, used to measure our advertising and to show you our ads on other sites.
  • Approximate location — inferred from your IP address at city or region level. We do not collect precise geolocation.

c. Information from other sources

We may receive information about you from advertising and analytics platforms, from public sources such as professional registries and business listings, from review platforms such as Trustpilot where you have posted a review, and from a person who refers you to us.

d. What we do not collect

We do not knowingly collect protected health information or patient records (Section 11); we do not collect government identification numbers, full payment card numbers or financial account numbers; and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 (Section 14). We do not collect or process sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about you.

4. Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To respond to your enquiry and provide the services you engage — using your contact details, practice and financial information, and correspondence. Basis: performance of a contract, and our legitimate interests.
  • To produce valuation estimates and readiness results — using the practice and financial information you enter. Basis: your request, and our legitimate interests.
  • To market your practice to prospective buyers — using the practice information you approve for publication. Basis: your consent and direction.
  • To send you the emails, guides and updates you asked for — using your contact details and usage data. Basis: consent and legitimate interests. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To measure, target and improve our advertising — using advertising and analytics identifiers and usage data. Basis: legitimate interests, and consent where required.
  • To operate, secure and improve the Site — using technical and usage data. Basis: legitimate interests.
  • To publish testimonials you submit — using your name, title, practice, statement and photograph. Basis: your consent, which you can withdraw.
  • For billing, accounting and record-keeping — using contact and transaction information. Basis: contract and legal obligation.
  • To comply with law and to establish or defend legal claims — using whatever is relevant. Basis: legal obligation and legitimate interests.

We do not use your personal information to make decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects without human involvement. The valuation calculator produces an estimate about a practice, not a decision about a person.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website, often containing a unique identifier. Your browser only lets a site read the cookies that site has set, not those set by others. We also use pixels, tags, local storage and server logs, which work similarly.

We use four kinds:

  • Strictly necessary — to make the Site work, to keep forms and logins functioning, and for security, including our bot protection. These cannot be switched off.
  • Functional — to remember your preferences, including your accessibility settings and partially completed tool entries.
  • Analytics — to understand how the Site is used, which pages are popular and where visitors have difficulty.
  • Advertising — to measure our advertising campaigns and to show our ads to you on other sites and platforms.

Managing cookies

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies through its settings, and blocking them is the most direct way to stop most of the tracking described here. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the Site working. You can also opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on, and manage interest-based advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance’s and Network Advertising Initiative’s opt-out pages. To opt out of advertising-related sharing with us directly, see Section 9.

Do Not Track. There is no common industry standard for responding to browser “Do Not Track” signals, and the Site does not currently respond to them.

6. Email and text communications

We are committed to keeping your email address confidential. We do not sell, rent or lease our subscriber lists, and we do not provide your contact details to any third-party individual, company or government agency except as described in Section 7 or where legally compelled.

We use your email address to send you information you requested, your valuation or assessment results, updates about your engagement, and marketing about our services.

CAN-SPAM and CASL. Every commercial email we send identifies who it is from, gives a way to contact us, and carries a clear unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing takes effect promptly and you will receive no further marketing email from us, though we may still send you messages necessary to an engagement you have with us. Canadian recipients: we send commercial electronic messages consistent with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation, we identify ourselves in every message, and we honor withdrawal of consent.

Email is not a secure medium. Please do not send us sensitive information by email — and never send patient information (Section 11).

7. Who we share personal information with

We disclose personal information only as described here. We do not sell personal information for money.

a. Service providers and processors

The third parties whose technology runs on the Site or supports our business, and the categories of information each receives:

  • Google (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads) — usage data, device and browser information, IP address, advertising identifiers. Used for analytics, conversion measurement and advertising.
  • MonsterInsights — the WordPress plugin that connects the Site to Google Analytics; same categories as above.
  • Meta Platforms (Facebook Pixel) — usage data, device information, IP address, advertising identifiers. Used for advertising measurement and to show you our ads on Facebook and Instagram.
  • Google reCAPTCHA — device, browser and interaction data, used to distinguish humans from bots on our forms. Subject to Google’s privacy policy and terms.
  • Moxie — our client relationship and scheduling platform; contact details, engagement and appointment information.
  • Thrive Themes — the website, form, lead capture and testimonial software running on the Site; form submissions and testimonial content.
  • EqualWeb / Nagich — the accessibility widget; your saved accessibility preferences and technical data.
  • Trustpilot — where you choose to leave a review; the information you provide to them directly.
  • Google Fonts and Cloudflare (cdnjs) — content delivery for fonts and scripts; your IP address and browser information as a technical necessity of loading them.
  • Gravatar (Automattic) — avatar images associated with an email address, where applicable.
  • Our web host, email provider, payment processor, and professional advisors — as necessary to run the business.

These providers are permitted to use the information only to provide services to us, and are bound by contract to protect it. This list reflects the services in use as at the date above; we update it as our tools change.

b. In connection with your transaction

Where you engage us to market your practice, we disclose information about it to prospective buyers as you approve and direct, and we require prospective buyers to sign a non-disclosure agreement before receiving non-public information. We do not disclose your identity or your practice’s identity to a prospective buyer except as you direct.

c. Legal and corporate

We may disclose personal information where we are legally compelled to, where we believe in good faith that the law requires it, to protect our legal rights or the safety of any person, to enforce our Terms of Service, or in connection with a merger, reorganization, financing or sale of our business, in which case the recipient will be bound by this policy or give notice of any change.

8. “Sale” and “sharing” for targeted advertising

We do not exchange your personal information for money. However, the Google and Meta advertising technologies on the Site transmit online identifiers and usage data to those companies so that we can measure our advertising and show our ads to you elsewhere. Several US state privacy laws define that activity as a “sale” of personal information or as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, or as “targeted advertising”, whether or not money changes hands. We tell you this plainly because those laws turn on the activity rather than on the payment.

  • Categories involved: internet and network activity, device and browser information, IP address, and advertising identifiers.
  • Recipients: Google and Meta Platforms.
  • We do not sell or share the practice financial information you enter into our tools, your testimonial, or the contents of your correspondence with us.
  • We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone we know to be under 16.
  • To opt out, email [email protected] with the subject line “Do Not Sell or Share”, and/or block advertising cookies in your browser, which stops the transmission at source.

9. Your privacy rights and how to exercise them

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights in your personal information:

  • Know / access — what we have collected about you, the categories, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclose it to, and to receive a copy.
  • Correct — inaccurate personal information.
  • Delete — personal information we hold about you, subject to the exceptions the law allows.
  • Portability — to receive your information in a portable, machine-readable format.
  • Opt out — of sale, of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, of targeted advertising, and of profiling with legal or similarly significant effects.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information — where a law provides it. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that trigger this right.
  • Withdraw consent — including your consent to a published testimonial, and your consent to marketing email.
  • Non-discrimination — we will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a lower quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.
  • Appeal — if we decline your request, you may appeal; see below.

How to make a request

Email [email protected], or write to us through our contact page, and tell us which right you are exercising. You may use an authorized agent, who must provide written proof of authority.

How we verify a request

To protect you, we must be able to verify that you are who you say you are before we act on a request about your information. We do this by matching the information in your request against what we already hold — typically the email address you used with us, and one or two further details about your dealings with us. We may ask a follow-up question. We will not ask you for a government identification number, and we do not require you to create an account. Where we cannot verify you, we will tell you and explain why.

How quickly we respond

We acknowledge requests promptly and respond within 45 days. Where a request is complex we may extend by a further 45 days, and we will tell you within the first 45 if we do. Opt-out requests are actioned within 15 business days. There is no charge unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, in which case we will tell you before doing anything.

Appeals

If we refuse a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the word “Appeal”. We will respond within 45 days with our decision and our reasons. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.

State-specific notes

California (CCPA/CPRA). The categories of personal information we have collected in the preceding 12 months, the sources, the business purposes and the categories of recipients are set out in Sections 3, 4 and 7. We share the categories listed in Section 8 for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not sold personal information for monetary consideration. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. California residents have the rights listed above, including the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information and the right to non-discrimination.

Other US states. Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws in force — including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, Minnesota, Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky and Rhode Island, among others — have equivalent rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, opt-out of targeted advertising and sale, and appeal, which we honor as described above. We apply these rights to all US residents who ask, regardless of whether their state’s law is in force or whether we meet its thresholds, because it is simpler and fairer than treating people differently by ZIP code.

Canada (PIPEDA). Canadian residents may access and correct their personal information and may withdraw consent, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. We handle personal information in accordance with PIPEDA’s fair information principles — accountability, identifying purposes, consent, limiting collection, limiting use and disclosure, accuracy, safeguards, openness, individual access and challenging compliance. Complaints may be made to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Visitors from the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. The Site is directed to the United States and Canada and we do not target or monitor individuals in the EEA or UK. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR nevertheless applies to information you give us, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, the right to withdraw consent, and the right to complain to your supervisory authority. Our legal bases are set out in Section 4. Information you give us is processed and stored in the United States.

10. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires. In practice:

  • Enquiries and leads that do not become clients — up to 1 year from your last contact with us, then deleted or anonymized.
  • Marketing subscribers — until you unsubscribe, plus a suppression record kept indefinitely so that we do not email you again.
  • Valuation calculator and readiness assessment submissions — up to 1 year, or deleted sooner on request. If you begin a tool and do not submit it, we do not store your entries at all; partial entries may remain in your own browser until you clear them.
  • Client engagement records, correspondence and transaction files — 1 year after the engagement ends, except where we must keep a particular record longer to meet a tax, accounting or legal requirement.
  • Financial and billing records — 7 years, as required for tax purposes.
  • Published testimonials — until you withdraw consent, then removed within 30 days (Section 12).
  • Server logs — typically 12 months.
  • Analytics and advertising data held by Google and Meta — according to their own retention settings and policies.

Where we must keep a record for legal reasons after you ask for deletion, we restrict it to that purpose and delete the rest.

11. Patient information and HIPAA

Our work concerns the business of a practice, not patient care. Lamorinda Healing Arts, Inc. is not a HIPAA business associate of any client and does not perform any function involving the use or disclosure of protected health information on behalf of a covered entity. No business associate relationship is intended or should be implied.

Please do not send us protected health information. Redact patient names, identifiers, charts, appointment detail and treatment information from any financial report, practice management export, schedule or screenshot before you send it, and give us any patient-derived figures — visit counts, revenue per visit, payer mix — in aggregate, de-identified form only.

If protected health information reaches us despite this, we will not use or disclose it, and we will return or securely destroy it as soon as we become aware of it.

12. Testimonials

Where you submit a testimonial, we collect your name, email address, professional title, practice name, your statement and any photograph you upload, and we publish the statement together with your name, title, practice, city and photograph on the Site and in our marketing.

We publish only what you consent to at the point of submission, and your consent is not perpetual. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing [email protected]; we will remove the testimonial from the Site and from materials we control within 30 days. We cannot recall copies already printed or distributed, or content cached or archived by search engines and other third parties. Your email address is not published; we use it only to contact you about your submission.

The full terms that apply to a testimonial submission, including the FTC disclosures, are in Section 10 of our Terms of Service.

13. How we protect information

We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold. These include encryption of the Site in transit using TLS, access controls that limit client financial information to the members of our team who need it, individual accounts with strong authentication for our business systems, use of reputable hosting and software vendors, and secure deletion at the end of a retention period.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Email in particular is not a secure medium: please do not send private information by email, and if you choose to, you do so at your own risk. We never ask for full payment card numbers or bank account details by email, and we do not transmit them that way.

If there is a data breach

If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will investigate promptly, take steps to contain it, and notify affected individuals and any regulator required to be notified, without unreasonable delay and within the timeframes the applicable law requires. Our notice will describe, as far as we know it, what happened, what information was involved, what we are doing about it, and what you can do to protect yourself.

To report a suspected vulnerability or security problem with the Site, email [email protected].

14. Children

The Site is intended for practice owners and buyers and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.

15. External links

The Site contains links to other websites, including listing pages, review platforms and resources. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of information found on a linked site, and a link is not an endorsement by Lamorinda Healing Arts, Inc. or its employees of that site, its sponsors, its products or the information presented there. This policy does not apply to any site we do not operate — read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

16. Changes to this policy

We may amend this policy at any time. The current version always appears on this page, and the “Last updated” date at the top tells you when it last changed. Where a change is material, we will give reasonable notice before it takes effect, by a notice on the Site, by email to subscribers, or both.

If the privacy policy changes, we will not use personal information you previously submitted in a manner materially inconsistent with the policy under which it was collected without your prior consent. We keep prior versions and will provide the version in effect on a particular date on request.

17. Contact
